Marcia and Bob

Friday, Feb. 16th, 2018

Hello Florida!!!

Driving from Georgia to Florida was pleasant and short...
Florida welcomed us at Amelia Island, the home of Fernandina Beach and of our friends Marcia and Bob.

We met this wonderful couple few years ago in Columbia, during the True and False Festival (One of the best documentary films' festivals).
They came from Atlanta as volunteers at the festival year after year. They love Columbia and we love them! About 2 years ago they moved to Fernandina Beach, on Amelia Island, Florida. Bob's father and Marcia's mother both live in Florida now.
When Marcia heard we plan to come to Florida, she immediately invited us to stay with them.
We had a problem where to park the RV... Marcia came with a genius idea, made all the inquiries and arrangements needed and there we were parking our RV at the parking lot of Savannah Grand Assisted Living for seniors... where her 88 years old mother lives!

Marcia and Bob live in a very nice neighborhood, in a charming home. We stayed at their guest unit on the second floor. The apartment is fully equipped, which made our stay equal to a thousand stars hotel with the great bonus of having the company of Marcia and Bob.

We could sit and talk for hours about any subject you can imagine, they are open minded and gentle and knowledgeable. They gave us lots of ideas and tips about what to see, where to go and where to dine.

We had breakfasts by the pool and a glass of wine in the evenings. We went to watch the play Harvey in which Bob plays a part, we got a detailed guided tour of Fernandina Beach, we went to restaurants together and we met Marcia's mom, a lovely joyful old lady!

We planed to stay there 4-5 days but Marcia suggested so many things to do, that we decided to stay longer. When we were ready to continue our trip, we couldn't find vacancy in any RV park, it was a weekend in the midst of the high season. Neither Marcia nor Bob are the kind of people that would get tensed or nervous because there is this couple of people (us) stuck in their life for another few days...
They were so generous and kind and hugging, like family.
Marcia even said to me that she feels like we're sisters, the sisters neither of us ever had.
Yes!!! No doubt! Marcia is my American sister!
I can't wait for their visit in Israel!
