If you ever have the chance to stay in the northeast of Florida, go to the beautiful white sandy beaches, visit a fort or two, climb the stairs to the top of at least one lighthouse take a deep breath and enjoy the endless view, go to a swamp, take a boat tour to a deserted island BUT don't miss St Augustine! The jewel of the northeast or maybe of all Florida.
We did all that and more during our stay at our friends, Marcia and Bob's home. Most of these places were recommended by Marcia. She definitely understood what we were looking for and was excited and thrilled to hear our impressions and experiences.

Downtown Fernanadina Beach is picturesque, vibrant, full with historic buildings that conserve the atmosphere of old times.

From the small port you can take a boat trip to Cumberland Island (the place we missed the opportunity to go to few days earlier). https://ameliarivercruises.com/cumberland-island-tour
This boat tour was amazing! The guy on the wheel provided a lot of information and was very amusing! We heard the interesting story of this island (The Carnegies built their mansions there) which became a US National Park. We saw dolphins, feral horses and lots of waterfowls.
We learned about the industries that flourish here: the shrimp industry and the cellulose made of wood here. that explained to me why they are harvesting the pine trees all over the place, and immediately planting new pine forests...

We had our first diner with Marcia and Bob at The Sand Bar & kitchen on the beach of the ocean front. I loved the location just by the white sand and the water. The food was fresh and tasty. http://thesandbarandkitchen.com/
