It's off season in the park.
There is a lot of space here for travel trailers, so we picked a nice parking site, few steps from the bathhouse. I'll tell you about "winterizing the RV" on another post.
The site we chose had a moderate slope, meaning you need to levelize the RV in order to position it horizontal.
You don't want to spend time in your RV with a sloppy floor...
Trying to levelize it we used the electrical jack down to its end and it stopped functioning... completely dead, neither lifting nor lowering. We're stuck.
After opening too many screws in the search of a restart switch, Arik gave up and we called Jayco technical support and found out that we burned a fuse. Easy to repair, but very annoying to a couple of beginners...
Don't worry guys! the burnt fuse was replaced with a new one we bought in Walmart.
They say that if you can't find it in Walmart - you don't need it... We definitely needed this fuse:)

Natchez Trace Parkway
Yesterday we drove the Tennessee part of the Natchez Trace Parkway. A beautiful scenic way that goes from Nashville to Natchez in Mississippi.
The weather was nice but it was chilling...
There was a small amount of water in the streams and falls. Winter time is the dry season here. You could see that huge amounts of water were flowing here shaping the slopes and rocks.

Old Hickory Dam near Nashville TN
As I told you it was Sunday midday when we headed towards Nashville from the RV camp.
On our way we saw a sign mentioning "Old Hickory Dam".
As Dams' fans we took the next turn and in a few minutes we found ourselves on the banks of a nice lake created by the dam.
We headed to the other side of the dam. We saw a tugboat pushing up stream a huge platform loaded with coal.
I was wondering where it was going to, because it seemed there is no outlet for it when it will reach the dam area.
It took the right side of the river near the bank, moving slowly towards a long structure... and slowly but surely disappearing between the walls of the structure until it was completely swallowed.
A local guy was guessing that it will reach the other side of the dam after gates will be closed behind it, and the level of water behind the gates will reach the level of the lake on the other side.

Nashville
We took the time today... No rush... New style of life, right?
The sun gazed through the clouds about midday.
On the way to Nashville we saw a sign showing the way to Old Hickory Dam.
Later on I found out, in downtown Nashville, that Gillette is in big trouble!

Most of men I saw tonight were bearded.
It's not our first time in Nashville. As in previous time we found it vibrant and amusing.
What else can you say about good music & alcohol & happy people?

Preparations
For the last few months, we've been studying the materia...
It took us about two months to understand what kind of camper/travel trailer we want.
First we bought a car, big one, the "horse" to pull the carriage... :) 2007 Ford Expedition.
Now, that we had the "horse", we had to decide what it is going to pull behind.
Since we have no experience towing, I was pressing to buy the smallest camper available. We went "window shopping" to find out what is the right for us.
We made a list of musts. I am very good with lists... Every trip we plan or a project we decide to do starts with a list, like a shopping list, to do list etc. Lists every where...
To make a long story short, while I was visiting the family in Israel, Arik found the perfect travel trailer for us, according to every parameter in that list! A 2014 Jayco Swift Feather RD198 in a very good condition.
In order to get the idea of what is ahead of us, we started watching travelers' clips on youtube and to read travelers' blogs, and the list grew and grew and grew...
From that point we bought equipment for the trip, we packed the apartment, we donated stuff to Goodwill, we took boxes to storage, we cleaned and we were almost ready to go But... It is January! It is sooo cold!
Today the sun was shining, the sky were completely blue, the temperatures were reasonably right and we moved on our way!
450 miles drive from Columbia MO to Nashville TN, half the way in heavy rain, a very challenging day! Preparations

Why RV
Four months passed since the budget of SKINER was coming to an end.
We knew it was coming, the end of 7.5 wonderful years here in Columbia MO.
We had to decide what's ahead of us.
For years Arik has this dream about us, sailing a yacht for half a year, like our best friends Ety and Meir. I shared this dream with him for about ten years...
But, I did (do) have my own, a much older one. Traveling on a camper for months. Kind of another life style experience, meeting new people, moving from one spot to the next one in a new pace, slower one, no rush, enjoying nature, staying in a place you like as long as you like it, and moving on when you feel that time came.
This was my opportunity to fulfill this dream! Years ago, I told Arik that before we pack our things, after our American Adventure will come to its end and we'll go back to Israel, we will do it! We will make my dream come true!
I must say that in a way he objected it... understandable concerning his own dream. But then, he joined me... in full volume! As always, when he has a mission - he dedicates himself to it up to the very last detail.
When I asked him what made him change his attitude, the answer was "I realized there is no contrast between our dreams! First of all, we can plan to do them both and secondly I came to the conclusion that traveling and living on a travel trailer is about the same as sailing a yacht but on dry land".

We had a wonderful farewell dinner with our friends Susan and David, at CC's Broilers.
We told them, as we tell every friend of ours about our coming adventure: "Follow us on facebook".
"I don"t do facebook" she said and David asked:"Will you write a blog?"
Well this brought me to the idea that if I want to share our adventure, I need to make the effort and learn how to create a blog...
To the benefit of my American and international friends, it will be in English. I hope you'll handle my broken English :)
